1. Our approach
OurVue respects the rights of copyright owners and the rights of our creators. We respond to notices of alleged infringement and to counter-notices through the process below, and we run a best-effort music screen on uploads.
To file a notice, use the copyright notice form. For other issues, use the Report button.
2. What a notice must include
- Your name, email and (if any) organisation
- Whether you own the copyright or are an authorised agent
- URL(s) of the allegedly infringing OurVue content
- A description or link of the original work, and optional timestamps
- Good-faith and accuracy declarations, plus an electronic signature
We email you a confirmation with a reference number and a link to retract the notice.
3. What we do with a notice
Moderators review the claim. If accepted, we take the content down (it stays on record for the uploader and for moderation), notify the uploader by email and in-app notification, and record a copyright strike that expires after 90 days. If rejected, we email you the reason.
For live streams, moderators may end the stream immediately.
4. Strikes and repeat infringement
Three active strikes (not expired, not removed) suspend the channel: the uploader can't upload or go live, and public content is hidden. Moderators can lift or impose a suspension. This is our repeat-infringer policy for the MVP.
5. Counter-notices
If you believe content was removed in error, submit a counter-notice from Studio → Copyright. We forward it to the claimant and wait a set period (default around 10–14 business days, configurable) before a moderator may restore the content, unless the claimant tells us they have filed a court action. Restoring removes the related strike.
6. Retractions
Claimants can retract a notice via the link in their confirmation email. That restores content taken down solely for that notice and removes the related strike.
7. Automatic music screening (best effort)
Uploaded videos are fingerprinted with Chromaprint and checked against a local blocklist (and, if configured, AcoustID). Sustained music-like audio can also be flagged heuristically when no fingerprint match is available. A match holds the video as a Music claim until the uploader keeps it private/unlisted, mutes or replaces the audio, or disputes the match for moderator review.
Limitations: fingerprinting misses remixed, sped-up, short or quiet background tracks and can false-positive. This is a safety net for the MVP, not Content ID. A production service should use a commercial provider (e.g. Audible Magic, ACRCloud).
Live streams: viewers and rights holders can still file a copyright notice against a live URL. Periodic live-audio fingerprint sampling and auto-mute is a planned follow-up — not enabled in this MVP because of the cost of continuous Chromaprint on every stream.
8. Misrepresentation
Knowingly submitting a false notice or false counter-notice may expose you to liability. We may reject abusive notices and, where appropriate, restrict further submissions.
